Nordstrom Firewood is a family-owned firewood producer and exporter from Latvia, founded in 1979.

We helped transform a long-standing family business into a structured, credible and internationally scalable brand – aligning its visual identity with its heritage, reliability, and export ambitions.

Challenge

Nordstrom Firewood is a family business with a long history dating back to 1979, built on decades of experience, reliability and craftsmanship.

However, this value was not reflected in the brand or digital presence.

Key challenges included:

  • The brand did not communicate its heritage and long-term experience
  • Lack of differentiation in a commoditized firewood market
  • Weak perception of trust and scale in international B2B markets
  • Outdated visual identity that did not reflect the company’s maturity
  • Website and brand system failed to express Nordstrom as a reliable long-term partner

As a result, there was a clear gap between what the company truly is and how it was perceived externally.

Insight

The research revealed a critical tension:

In B2B commodity industries, especially in materials and logistics, buyers are not only choosing a product, they are choosing stability over time.

Insights:

  • Trust is strongly linked to company history and continuity
  • Long-standing family ownership is a major competitive advantage, if communicated correctly
  • Buyers value reliability, consistency and predictability over visual sophistication
  • Most competitors either ignored heritage or had no meaningful brand story at all
  • Nordstrom's greatest untapped asset was its history since 1979.

The key insight:

In commodity markets, history is not background information – it is a trust signal.

Strategy

We repositioned Nordstrom Firewood around a core idea:

A long-standing family business as a reliable industrial partner.

  • Making heritage (1979 → present) a central brand asset
  • Shifting perception from commodity supplier to generational, stable partner
  • Translating family business values into structured B2B credibility
  • Emphasizing continuity, reliability and operational maturity
  • Building a brand system that visually reflects time-tested trust, not marketing claims

The goal was to connect two worlds:

heritage + industrial scale + international readiness

Creative Direction

The design system was built to reflect both heritage and industrial precision.

Instead of modern “startup aesthetics”, we focused on grounded, long-term credibility.

Key design principles:

  • Structured and disciplined layout system to express stability
  • Typography and hierarchy inspired by industrial communication systems
  • Subtle references to natural materials without romanticizing them
  • Visual tone balancing heritage (family-owned history) and industrial reliability
  • A restrained color palette communicating trust, consistency and maturity

A key challenge was avoiding “heritage branding clichés”.

Instead of visual storytelling about nostalgia, we focused on: heritage expressed through clarity, structure and consistency.

The identity works across

  • Export and logistics communication
  • B2B presentations and negotiations
  • Digital presence
  • Product and category structuring
